About ten games of head-to head play on LAN have shown that multiplayer is pretty solid right now- and lots of fun!. It at very least works well enough to play it and find some more bugs!

Art, you still have a screen clean up problem. I played the Sathar Heavy Crusier for a bit and the switched to the UPF destroyers. The LB1 line from the Heavy Crusier was still on the screen.

There seems to be some issues with the weapons. When shooting the LC7 I didn't get a range circle. Is is so big it is off the screen? If so the laser beam doesn't get drawn all the way out. Also, the small laser weapons on the destroyers seemed to have a greater range than I expected for a size one weapon. Otherwise, looks good.

Size 1 LC has a range circle of 90 pixels (3 hex). I will test to verify the code on LC1.
I did clean up code BEFORE I did the Heavy Cruiser...An now need more lines of cleanup. THanks for catching that. LC7 circle is 960 pixels in diameter,will be somewhat off the chart at 1280x960, so is not drawn at all for whatever reason. I will try reducing it by 1 pixel to try to get it on the screen. You can cycle through the resolutions with F2 to get a zoom that allows you to see thelarger range rings. One day I will get to the zoom...

New major re-vamp of beam weapons. THey should now only hit their target. Some old code that was destroying missiles instantly was removed from a couple of classes of weapons. Seekers will still blast any enemy they get near (torpedos included) as that is a "feature", not a bug. Anti-missile fire will be more difficult until some dual-target modes are added to the ships allowing point defense weapons to target missiles only.

March 28th vesion now has "endings" to the game, some new music, and a "point" system and scoring set. You can now evaluate your scenarios and see how well one side or the other has done.

Hello Star Frontiers people (and craziest of all, Aethelwulffe), but I would like to start up a LAN game at a certain time zone and date (like maybe next weekend would be nice), and play an 8 player match, no AI (because Aethelwulffe is still having trouble with slave side multiplayer AI), and 4v4 sathar frigates versus UPF's 2nd biggest ships. Please write in this forum for those who want to participate in this match, i'll be looking froward to this.

P.S. last night I played a single player like match with multiple planets (only seems that the first or probably the biggest planet has the gravitational pull), I placed first a gas planet, then ten moons around the map, and then filled the rest amount of objects with carriers.

P.S.S. the star fighters went suicidal and I ran into a moon a few times. lol

Count me in! I recommend we all do a version download/check before we do so. How about 8:00 EST at ip 75.92.85.164 (Gurgalen's IP)? If anyone cares to, contact me and see if I can get the StarFrontiers.org ip to serve the game. BTW, while it is not an updated version, the game is on Yo Yo games server as well, so we might go to that in the future. It can supposedly host it as a multiplayer.
Until just last night, if you fired a UPF size 7 or 1 laser, you damaged your target's target, which often was yourself! Pretty bad for the Port Loren class. I have been finding little bugs during all the playtesting of the "stock" scenarios I am making for the Mission Roster. I am not so sure that the AI is all that bad (code wise). It seems to play much better over the lan than it does over the internet. In any case, player objects seem to work great over the internet.
I will try to get a "standard" multiplayer scenario coded in before tonight. That should speed the game greatly. Just click on the scenario and you are set to host. I will be in phone communication with Gurgalen, and I suggest everyone else try to get on with either Yahoo or MSM. I will have both up. I can be available either day...or rather I will leave the darn Marina to make SURE I will be available.
We can alternate and let Terl Obar host as well as seeing if my router will let us. I need to do another lan test of the pre-made multiplayer scenario to take care of deleting unused ships (it is for 8 players, but can be played by fewer).
